Darko Karlečik earned his degree in Percussion at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, studying under Professors Nebojša Jovan Živković and Srđan Palačković. He went on to complete his master’s studies at the Music and Arts Private University of Vienna (MUK). He has collaborated with a number of orchestras, including the Vienna State Opera Orchestra, the Croatian National Theater, the Serbian National Theater, the Max Steiner Orchestra in Vienna, the Zagreb Philharmonic, the Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra, and the Belgrade Philharmonic. He is a permanent member of the contemporary 2K+ music ensemble and regularly performs with the SUDAR percussion ensemble (Croatia). As a soloist, he has given concerts in numerous cities, including Beijing, Vigo, and Lausanne, among others. As an orchestral musician, he has performed in prestigious venues such as the Musikverein, Konzerthaus, State Opera, City Hall, and Rathaus in Vienna; the Lisinski Hall in Zagreb; the Kolarac Endowment in Belgrade; and the Abdulhussain Abdulridha Theater in Kuwait. Darko Karlečik has collaborated with renowned artists such as Keiko Abe, Jean Geoffroy, Eric Sammut, Ivana Bilić, Jojo Mayer, and Jeff Queen, among others. He lives and works in Novi Sad, where he is a Senior Associate (academic position) at the Academy of Arts and a Teacher at the Isidor Bajić Music School. As of 2025, he is an official Yamaha artist and performs on the company’s marimbas.
