Artists
Miloš Karadaglić, one of the most renowned classical guitarists of his generation, studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London. His career quickly took off in 2011 with the release of his debut album Mediterraneo for Deutsche Grammophon. Since then, he has gained a global following and received numerous awards and accolades from audiences around the world. As an exclusive artist for Sony Classical, he is dedicated to expanding the classical guitar repertoire – from transcriptions and arrangements of Baroque compositions on his album Baroque to premiere concertos by Howard Shore and Joby Talbot on The Moon and the Forest. In 2016, BBC Music Magazine named him among the six greatest classical guitarists of the last century. He has performed as a soloist with some of today’s most prestigious orchestras, including: the London and Los Angeles Philharmonics; the Atlanta, Chicago, and NHK (Japan) Symphony Orchestras; the Santa Cecilia Orchestra in Rome; the Philadelphia and Cleveland Orchestras; and the Spanish National Orchestra. Miloš Karadaglić is also an active patron of numerous charitable organizations that support young musicians in the UK and internationally. He is the founder of the Miloš Foundation in Montenegro.
Alison Balsom has dedicated her career to expanding the artistic possibilities of the trumpet. She has performed with many of the world’s leading orchestras, including the London, New York, Munich, and Los Angeles Philharmonics; the London Symphony Orchestra; the Philadelphia Orchestra; the Southwest German Radio Symphony Orchestra (SWR); all BBC orchestras; the English Concert; the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields; the Orchestre de Paris; the Vienna Symphony; and the Australian Chamber Orchestra. She has collaborated with conductors such as Antonio Pappano, Stephen Cleobury, Edward Gardner, Tianyi Lu, Roger Norrington, Pierre Boulez, Lorin Maazel, Claudio Abbado, and Trevor Pinnock. She records for Warner Classics (formerly EMI), has won the ECHO Klassik Award three times (Germany), was named Gramophone’s Artist of the Year, and is a three-time Classic BRIT Award winner. During her tenure as Artistic Director of the Cheltenham Music Festival, she commissioned twenty new works by leading composers to mark the festival’s 75th anniversary. She has premiered numerous works written especially for her and has served as Artist-in-Residence at London’s Barbican Centre. Alison Balsom regularly collaborates with harpsichordist and conductor Trevor Pinnock, organist Anna Lapwood, and pianist Tom Poster.
