ABOUT THE PROJECT
Sun & Moon – Music Exploring Duality presents the artistic concept behind the debut collaborative album by cellist Asja Valčić and pianist Sebastian Schneider. Contrasts deeply rooted in human existence – such as stillness and motion, joy and sorrow, structure and freedom, day and night – are brought into focus and reflected in both composition and musical expression. Through the combination of cello and piano, Valčić and Schneider create a sound world strongly shaped by the classical tradition, which they reinterpret in a distinctive way within the realm of improvisation and European jazz. Their interaction is characterized by sound depth, refined chamber sensitivity, and a shared joy in musical creation. The result is a nuanced dialogue between two instrumental soloists, both poetic and virtuosic, that renders the duality of existence audible through musical texture.
