Program posvećen stogodišnjici rođenja Majlsa Dejvisa, pionira džez muzike i ikonem obuhvatiće kompozicije Billy Boy, Someday My Prince Will Come, All Blues, kao i medli Majlsovih klasika povezanih sa četiri godišnja doba: Springsville, Summertime, Autumn Leaves i Gingerbread Boy.

Artists

Jonathan Nathan, drummer, is the director of the Jazz Trio at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), and has been an active member of the Santa Barbara music scene for more than 30 years, since his arrival in the city. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, a Master’s degree in Percussion Performance from California State University, Northridge, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is currently the principal timpanist of the Santa Barbara Grand Opera Association, as well as director of jazz ensembles and percussion instructor at UCSB. He previously served as principal percussionist of the Santa Barbara Civic Light Opera, and continues to perform regularly with the Santa Barbara Symphony Orchestra and other regional ensembles. Jonathan Nathan was the principal drummer of the Animal Liberation Orchestra band, as well as of numerous jazz ensembles in Santa Barbara. He has led numerous masterclasses in jazz performance and improvisation.

Megan Etzel, pianist, is a third-year Biopsychology student at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She enjoys playing the piano both on and off campus – from her hometown in Orange County to Isla Vista, California. Along with music, she is committed to increasing awareness of the resources available within UCSB jazz ensembles, contributing to the development of a vibrant and welcoming community. Her experience with this ensemble has left her optimistic about the future of jazz among her generation.

Liam Ronarch, double bassist, is originally from Ventura County, California, and recently graduated with a degree in Computer Science from the University of California. He began playing double bass at the age of 12 through a school music program and continued performing in orchestras and jazz ensembles throughout high school. During his studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, he further developed as a musician, performing in various ensembles including the UCSB Jazz Trio, orchestras, and funk bands. Over the past three years, he has studied under the mentorship of drummer Matt Perko and looks forward to a life dedicated to music.
