Artists
The Constantine Vocal Ensemble, founded in Niš in 2008, bases its concert repertoire on works by both domestic and international composers across genres including ethno, pop, rock, jazz, film, and sacred music. The ensemble performs original arrangements and compositions written specifically for them. Constantine promotes and affirms chamber and non-traditional vocal ensembles and preserves the musical culture of Niš, Serbia, and the broader region. Members of the group have performed at numerous concerts and festivals in Serbia and abroad: at Sava Center (Belgrade), the Army Hall (Niš), Banski Dvor (Banja Luka), Mokranjac Days (Negotin), and the Niš Music Festival, and in Białystok (Poland), Minsk (Belarus), and cities across the United Kingdom during their UK tour. The group is the recipient of the most prestigious award of the City of Niš – the January 11 Award, alongside
the Vojsilav Ilić First Prize for authentic performance of sacred music at the International Festival of Sacred Choral Music Choirs Among the Frescoes, the First Prize and Gold Medal at the First Interkultur International Festival of Choirs and Vocal Ensembles in Vrnjačka Banja, the Grand Prix at the International Klapa Festival in Perast, and honors at the Belgrade Choral Festivities. For the PGP RTS record label, the vocal group has recorded two albums: Singing at the Break of Dawn and Heritage.
